Ex-bourbon

This was the oldest official release from Foursquare Rum Distillery until Mark XXIII “Covenant”

17 year Aged Single Blended Rums, consisting of both Artisanal Pot and Traditional Twin Column Coffey distilled molasses rums.

Aged for 17 years entirely in Ex-Bourbon barrels. All aging, blending and bottling occurring entirely on-site, at Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados.

TASTING NOTES:

Initial Impressions: Rich and deep character, with pronounced cocoa and caramel notes - still with many bright and fruit-forward characteristics, unexpected for a tropically aged rum of 17 years. Fantastic sipper with great complexity.
Aroma: Notes of cherry, almond and cocoa powder open to toasted marshmallow, caramel and a hint of butterscotch. Evolves in to a deeper pipe tobacco and chocolate covered cherry note balanced by subtle minerality.
Palate: Vanilla, dark chocolate, cherries, berries and creme caramel - luscious and rich while not being overly sweet. Layered cocoa notes, reminiscent of dark fudge, while having a dry and lightly nutty finish.
Bottled at 58% ABV - 116 Proof.
