Ex-bourbon

This rum spent 16 years in Ex-Bourbon Barrels on-site at the distillery in Barbados before finding its way to bottle and shelves⁠. One might assume that with that amount of time in barrel, this would be a heavily “oaked” and “woody” release - however, the use of different degrees of “used” barrels enabled this to still be a very fruit-forward and vibrant bottling.⁠

Nose: Caramelized Orange, Black Walnut, Almond, Black Currant, Butterscotch, Chocolate covered strawberries, Dried Apricots, Mint, and Candy floss.⁠

Palate: Layered, rich, and complex. Notes of dark chocolate ganache, blackberry compote, butterscotch, banana nut bread, finishing with tangerine, and blood orange⁠.

Finish: Lengthy and pleasant.
